George Washington Carver homesteadAddress:
Email Address: nccofc@gbta.net About this Exploration: George Washington Carver homesteaded 1 mile South of Beeler. There is a marker at the corner of the property, donated by the Ness County Historical Society. Mr. Carver used the money from the sale of the property to attend college and became a world renowned scientist. While he lived at Beeler he told a fellow residence there is something in the ground under this area but wasn't sure what. He could tell by the terrain and he was so right. Just a few miles northeast of Beeler the first oil well was drilled in 1929. The Aldrich field has remained a very good producing field along with most of Ness County. |
