Oldest Church Pipe OrganAddress:
608 Lakeside Drive
Email Address: clover@nckcn.com About this Exploration: Built in 1886, the Cawker City United Methodist Church organ is the oldest church organ in Kansas. Henry Pilcher's Sons of Louisville, Kentucky built the organ for the Congregational Church in Kinsley, Kansas. At the time, it was the only organ in Kansas west of Emporia.
In 1931, the Cawker Methodists bought the organ and placed it in their native limestone church. Then in 1976, a new sanctuary was built. At this time, the organ was restored by Reuter Organ Co., Lawrence, Kansas. See the beautiful colors on the pipes.
United Methodist Church is in the second block north of Ball of Twine on Lake Drive.
To see and hear the organ, contact organist Steve Richardson at richardsonpipeorgans@nckcn.com or call 785.781.4961 or 785.781.4924.
