Main Street. Surrounding the steps are some of the original foundation stones. A marker dedication took place in August of 1974 and the Founders Memorial plaque was erected in 1989 to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the founding of Bethesda Mennonite Society. The original Society Membership Cerificate was written in German and only male members of a Mennonite denomination could become a member in the Society. Changes were made to the stipulations for membership in the 1960s.
Kristine Flaming Schmucker wrote a book entitled "A Heritage of Care, A history of the Mennonite Bethesda Society" that is available at Bethesda Home, the Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum and to be checked out from the Goessel Public Library.
