Building was originally one of 59 Kansas Carnegie libraries. Andrew
Carnegie granted Goodland $10,000 to build its library. Citizens had to vote whether to
accept this grant, resulting in a victory for equal rights for women. Building was designed with Italian Renaissance Revival architecture by Denver architects Barrensen Brothers. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in September 1985.
A new artist exhibit rotates every month, featuring local and area artists. An artist's reception for the new monthly exhibit is held on the first Sunday of every month with local musicians providing the entertainment. Venue is also available for events and meetings. Arts Center offers free wireless Internet access.
Arts Center was chosen as No. 4 in the 2008 Eight Wonders of Sherman County contest.
