Email Address: heringtonmuseum@att.net About this Exploration: It was the foresight of city founder, Monroe D. Herington, to bring the Chicago, Kansas and Nebraska railroad tracks to Herington. He gave right of way through his ranch and lots to build on. With the addition of the Rock Island Line, the city became a railroad boomtown in 1888.
Herington has always been a railroad town and remains so today. A collection of railroad artifacts are on display in a Rock Island baggage car.
