About this Exploration: Dave Jarvis started going to auctions when he was in high school in the early 1960s buying boxes of items. He remembers the first two larger items that he bought were an old dining room buffet (that he still uses today) and his first car, a 1954 green Ford, by paying $65 for it.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Dave held several garage sales and then in late 1980 he purchased some old store shelving and showcases and set up a weekend sales in his grandpa's vacant welding and lathe shop building. In 1991 a building in downtown became available for rent so Dave moved all of his treasures there and officially opened the Secondhand Store. Three years later another downtown building was put up for sale, so Dave bought the building and moved everything across the street during the late night hours as to avoid the traffic. Now nearly 50 years later Dave still loves going to household auctions. Open Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.(closed during lunch hour); Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed during lunch hour).
