About this Exploration: The Pony Express is one of America's favorite legends, and Seneca was the first home station along the route from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California. Folk lore says that Johnny Frye, a local young Pony Express rider, was chased by the ladies with their homemade biscuits and sweet treats! Artifacts of the Pony Express days and its ties to the Seneca area are displayed in the museum. The oldest wooden jail in the U.S. is also showcased here.
Open Memorial Day-Labor Day, Wednesday-Friday 9 a.m.-2 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or groups by appointment.
