Joan's CafeAddress:
454 Martin
Email Address: jlclark1014@sbcglobal.net About this Exploration: Whether you have spent a full day at the Quivira National Wildlife Refuge or a night next door at the Migrate Inn Motel, there is a special meal waiting for you at Joan's Cafe.
Breakfast is especially popular and can be ordered all day except on Sundays. Joan recommends the Cinnamon Cream pie (see picture) made from scratch using an old time recipe. It is available on Fridays. Joan has been working the cafe for 23 years and knows how to handle the locals that give her static every morning. Early most mornings one can find local farmers congregating at what is affectionately known as the "Liars Table" for coffee. By sitting close to the "Liars Table" one can observe local customs, hear crop, weather and harvest reports, listen to local news and learn how to heckle your friends in a good-natured
way. The cafe's address is 454 Martin, but Martin Street is really U.S. 50. The cafe is on the north side of the highway on the east side of town. It is open daily 6 a.m.-8 p.m. A buffet is served everyday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Specialties include fried chicken and chicken fried steak.
Stop in to enjoy a good variety of food and observe local customs at a leisurely pace. Joan's also has a separate, more private dining area for large groups and meetings.
