About this Exploration:
Funyak (n) - Funyaks are self-bailing, inflatable kayaks carrying one or two people. They are very stable and comfortable with room to stretch your back and legs on a soft surface. Even with no prior experience you can enjoy the thrills of river kayaking on the Kansas River with a funyak, canoe, row boat, or even an inner tube! Funyaking on the Kansas River
A new river boat ramp was built in 2008
Wamego Riverfront Park and Access Ramp
The boat ramp was completed in 2008 and include restrooms and a parking area. It presently serves as an excellent place to start, break, or end for those traveling along the river. The access point is located on the south side of Wamego under KS 99.
Directions
From Downtown on Lincoln Avenue, head south across the railroad tracks Turn right (going west) on Valley Road then left (heading south) at the first alley. Sandbars on the Kansas River Stop and explore the sand for old glass bottles, arrowheads, animal bones, and bank swallows’ nests. Gather up drift wood, build a fire, and set up camp for the night.
