In 1874, Kenny's grandparents immigrated to Kansas from Germany and Czechoslovakia, settling north of Waterville to farm the rich prairie. Instead of reading about Kansas history in his country schoolhouse, he would "doodle," creating scenes inspired by his dad's stories and his mothers natural artistic talent. Today, Kenny's "doodling" is showcased throughout Waterville, Marshall County and the state of Kansas. His oil painted murals can be seen on buildings in Waterville such as the one across from the Lumber Yard ( 120 S. Nebraska) and west of co-op's tall elevator, in the Methodist Church ( 103 E. Main), in the Elementary School ( 307 E. Lincoln) and in the Depot Museum( 125 S. Kansas) Kenny also spends time as one of the volunteers of the Marshall County Historic Railroad. He can often be found telling the story of the Central Branch Railroad to a group of passengers ready to take an open air excursion ride on the rail. Contact 785.363.2515 for more information. |
