Summerville Log CabinAddress:
507 Burkman Street
About this Exploration: Built in 1867, this two-story log cabin became home to Isaac and Hettie Summervill when they were married in 1886. Hettie lived in the cabin until her death in 1955. The cabin is appropriately furnished and one of a few cabins with a loft surviving in Kansas.
The house was moved to the Rock Creek Valley Historical Society Museum Complex in 1993 and extensive restoration was necessary prior to the grand opening in 1999. Open during museum hours: April-November Tuesday-Sunday 1-4 p.m. Donations appreciated. |
