About this Exploration:
Purchased in 1965 by the Woodson County Historical Society, this museum is one of the oldest buildings in Yates Center. This two story stone structure (circa 1877-1878) was the original home to the First Christian Church and First Christian Science Church.
The New York Valley Church was donated and moved to the museum grounds in 1996 along with the New York Valley one room schoolhouse, complete with turn of the century furnishings. Another building located on the museum grounds is Josiah Daniel’s cabin (circa 1866) also complete with original furnishings.
Stop in and see the displays dating from the early 1800s to present day and learn not only facts about Woodson County, but the state of Kansas as well!
