Constitution Hall, a National Landmark and State Historic Site was built in 1855 making it the oldest free-standing frame building in Kansas. It was built to accommodate the Territorial Legislature. It contains two floors of exhibits and artifacts from the territorial period. Here the Lecompton Constitution was drafted, debated and voted on, and sent to the United States Congress for adoption.
